Add a password to a PDF
Lock a contract, payslip or ID copy so only people you give the password to can open it. AES-256 encryption works in Adobe Reader, Preview, Chrome, Edge and on phones.
Free, no account needed
How to use it
- Drop your PDF onto the page.
- Choose a password, and what people with it may do: print, copy text, make changes.
- Download the protected PDF. Docurve checks that it asks for the password before you get it.
Why your files stay private
Most online PDF tools send your document to their server, process it there and send it back. Docurve works differently: the work happens inside your own browser, on your own phone or computer. Your files are never uploaded, so nobody else can see, keep or reuse them. That matters for the documents people handle most: contracts, payslips, ID copies, invoices and medical records.
Frequently asked questions
How strong is the protection?
Docurve uses AES-256, the strongest encryption in the PDF standard. A long password matters most: 12 or more characters, or a short sentence.
What if I forget the password?
Nobody can open the PDF without it, not even Docurve, so keep the password somewhere safe.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The PDF is protected in your browser and never leaves your device.
